Smart Solution$ Breakfast : Money Smart for Seniors

This final workshop in our Smart Solution$ series will provide vital information on how to make smart choices with your money. Participants will learn to recognize how federal deposit insurance protects deposits, how to guard against identity theft, how various types of insurance will help manage risk, and the need to plan for unexpected death or disability.

Do you have flood damage?  Help may be available from Cook County and the Village of Niles.

Upcoming Smart Solution$ Programs on Personal Finance



Money Smart 4-Week Series
Registration required.
The Niles Public Library presents a 4-week series about enhancing skills and creating positive banking relationships called Money Smart. Sessions are every Thursday in May from 10:30am to Noon. Presenter:  Dedra Thomas, Extension Unit Educator, Consumer and Family Economics, University of Illinois Extension

Thurs., May 9, 16, 23, 30, 10:30-Noon    
Attendance at all sessions is recommended.

May 9 – Financial Recovery: This workshop will help you assess your situation and guide you in planning your financial recovery, while also identifying ways to increase income and decrease and prioritize expenses.
May 23 – To Your Credit: Do you know your credit score? This workshop offers a better understanding of credit and its importance.
May 30 – Bank on It: Learn the various types of financial institutions and their functions. Your bank customer service representative will become your new friend.
June 6 – Pay Yourself First: This workshop will help you understand why you should save. Learn to include YOU under the other bill tabs!

Money Smart Week 2013



Money Smart Week® is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances.
The American Library Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago are recognizing April 20-27 as Money Smart Week @your library. During this time over 500 FREE educational programs will be held to stress the importance of financial literacy.

Niles Library is participating in Money Smart Week with these programs:

Apr. 24     100 Small Ways to Save Big
